Pencil grips - did you ever realize there were so many different types of grips?

From Handwriting Without Tears: Handwriting Programs:

Callirobics (CALLIgraphy and aeROBICS) "are a unique concept in handwriting exercises. They consist of repetitive simple writing patterns (straight and curved lines) to music. The music relaxes the participants and adds rhythm to their exercises. With music the exercises become fun instead of tedious penmanship chore. Music also benefits participants who learn better through auditory, instead of visual means. For beginners,(4-14) advanced and adults."

    Handwriting Without Tears
includes products for Readiness, Printing and Cursive writing.
developed by Jan Olsen, an OT. "The purpose of my work is to make handwriting an automatic and natural skill for children of ALL ability levels. Children who can write well with ease and confidence do better in all of their classes, enjoy school more and feel proud of their work. Children and teachers enjoy success with Handwriting Without Tears because it makes handwriting easy and fun to learn."

D'Nealian Handwriting Materials "D'Nealian handwriting inventor Donald N. Thurber found the traditional circle-and-stick method of handwriting to be frustrating for many children. Thurber modified and simplified the lower-case manuscript letters so that they looked more like cursive letters. Instead of forming letters with circles and sticks, children form whole letters at once, with minimal lifting of the pencil. Instead of straight up and down strokes, D'Nealian strokes are slanted. These continuous, slanted strokes lead naturally to cursive writing when the child is ready."
